Manual Osteopathic Therapy (MOT) is a wholistic treatment which aims to address the root cause of dysfunction and facilitate the body’s innate healing response.
What does a Manual Osteopathic Treatment look like?
Carrie’s treatments start out with an assessment to see where imbalances might be found. She listens to your body through her hands. Throughout the assessment, she will ask you questions, but ultimately, your body will let her know where treatment is required.
Assessment might be done while you move, stand, sit, and lay on the treatment table. By combining your history with what your body tells her, Carrie will come up with and discuss your treatment plan with you, being sure it fits within your lifestyle and goals.
Treatment starts that very first session. Assessment will forever continue to be mixed in with your treatment as Carrie discusses the changes and improvements within your system.
What modalities are included in Manual Osteopathic Therapy?
MOT includes multiple methods or modalities including Osteoarticulations, Advanced Myofascial Remodelling, Craniosacral Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Treatment, and Visceral Manipulation.
What are Osteoarticulations?
Osteoarticulations help to realign and rebalance your skeletal system. This is done using gentle manipulations and resisting the therapist with your own muscular strength in order to realign any imbalances. Carrie most often uses these to realign the spine and pelvis.
What is Advanced Myofascial Remodelling?
Advanced Myofascial Remodelling addresses the fascia/connective tissue of your body. With a bit of patience, it creates long lasting changes that your body can maintain. This slow therapy sometimes feels like a type of massage.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a whole body treatment that originates with the craniosacral system. It uses very gentle touch to tune into the rhythm of your cerebro-spinal fluid and follow the restrictions in your body until they release.
Sometimes it feels like the therapist’s hands are perfectly still while movement seems to be happening within your body.
What is Manual Lymphatic Treatment?
Manual Lymphatic Treatment uses gentle, rhythmic touch to enhance the flow of the lymph fluid. This fluid movement is your body’s waste movement and collection system, so it’s important that it has a path to follow and a place to go.
What is Visceral Manipulation?
Visceral Manipulation treats the connective tissue that holds your organs in place. With every breath, our organs are meant to slide and glide amongst each other. This treatment addresses any restrictions within those tissues to help your body function optimally.
